Last night I finally got around to finishing the last of the Witcher 3 Blood and Wine DLC and while I originally wasn’t huge on the game in my first attempt at a playthrough, after giving it a more honest attempt, it is easily one of my all time favorite games now!
I’ll admit, I haven’t done much in terms of side quests and contracts so I’ve still got plenty I can do if I’m bored, but the main quests of the game and both the Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine DLCs have been completed. And I have to say, the DLC is the best DLC I’ve ever encountered and I’m admittedly an outspoken opponent of DLC in general (that’s a rant for another time).
I think the overall stories might just be the best storytelling I’ve seen in a game. I especially didn’t see the end of the Blood and Wine DLC coming which was brilliant! If you want a game with amazing stories, this is the game for you! I’ll admit the fighting can be a bit clunky at times and some of the boss fights can have you crying for mercy but its totally worth it!
I’ve started reading The Witcher books as well and I’m really looking forward to getting deep into those because I just love the world of The Witcher (including the TV show).
I think I need to go back and play the first two Witcher games now just to see what I’ve missed although I do know they aren’t supposed to be as good as the 3rd. But it could give me something to do while I await the rumored DLC that is supposed to come out this spring. But I’m going to take a slight break from the franchise for now and play my way through Assassin’s Creed Shadows and God of War Ragnarök which are the next games from my backlog to tackle. If there is one good thing about being unemployed its that I finally have time for games again!
Have you played any of The Witcher games? I’d love to hear your thoughts about them in the comments below!
