Week 6: Quiet Momentum, Returning Curiosity, and Trusting the Pace

A candid weekly look at navigating burnout, rebuilding, and finding my next role.

This past week didn’t come with any dramatic turning points or emotional breakthroughs — and that’s actually what made it meaningful.

Instead of big swings, it was a week of steadiness. Of routines holding. Of curiosity returning. Of confidence rebuilding quietly, without pressure.

Stability Is Starting to Feel Normal

My daily routine continues to be the foundation everything else rests on.

Most mornings looked familiar:

  • getting dressed

  • reading the news

  • playing a bit of Tetris

  • watching Twitch and development content

  • easing into the day instead of rushing it

Some days I needed Zipfizz, some days I didn’t — and that alone feels like progress. My energy levels are becoming more predictable, and even when sleep wasn’t perfect, I was still able to function without feeling completely drained.

That sense of baseline stability is something I didn’t fully appreciate until it started showing up consistently.

Learning Is Leading the Way

One thing that stood out this week is how naturally learning has taken center stage.

I spent a good amount of time working through a .NET AI bootcamp I’ve been slowly progressing through. The material has been genuinely engaging — not in a “grind” way, but in a way that reminds me why I enjoy building things in the first place.

Instead of forcing myself to push hard on a single project, I’ve been letting curiosity guide me. That shift feels important. Learning feels energizing again, which tells me I’m rebuilding capacity the right way.

A Small Spark of Creation

Late in the week, something interesting happened.

I had an idea for a small mobile app and decided to capture it properly. I wrote up a PRD, then turned Copilot loose on it in agent mode. About an hour later, I had a fully scaffolded app ready to test.

I didn’t even get to testing it that night — dinner with my grandparents came first — but the experience itself was the real win.

The idea didn’t feel forced.
The process didn’t feel draining.
And I didn’t feel pressure to immediately “do something” with it.

It was creation without urgency — something I haven’t felt in a long time.

Balancing Momentum and Real Life

Not everything went smoothly, of course.

Some days I skipped meals without really meaning to. Some routines shifted because of holidays or closures. And this morning I woke up with my neck completely out of place — a reminder that my body still has opinions about pacing.

But none of these things derailed the week. They were handled, adjusted for, and moved past without spiraling.

That, more than anything, feels like progress.

Where I’m At Now

I don’t feel “fully back.”
I don’t feel wildly motivated.
And I don’t feel behind.

What I do feel is steadier.

The fog is thinner.
My confidence is quieter but more real.
My interest in building and learning is returning on its own terms.

Most importantly, I’m trusting the pace.

Burnout recovery doesn’t reward urgency — it rewards consistency, patience, and listening. This week felt like all three were finally starting to align.

Looking Ahead

Next week, my focus stays intentionally simple:

  • finish the AI bootcamp

  • continue light, curiosity-driven project work

  • keep the routine intact

  • return to MoveableEats when it feels additive, not obligatory

  • handle physical recovery where needed and adjust accordingly

No rush. No forcing momentum.

Just showing up, paying attention, and letting the next phase unfold naturally.

One steady week at a time.
