What gives you inspiration?

Hey readers!

I’m looking for some advice and I figured here would be a great place to ask for it.  What gives you inspiration to work on hobby projects?

Until I land a programming job, my other hobby outside of blogging and podcasting is coding programs.  Unfortunately, by the time that I do my podcasts and blogs, I am often feeling uninspired to code something.  Usually my problem is that I can’t decide what it is I want to create.  I’m not a huge fan of re-inventing the wheel, so if I see something has been done before and done well, I won’t redo it as I often don’t have the time to make something better.  Also, I’m not much of a GUI guy, so when I do make something, it tends to be more functional than look good.  In the end, I believe the problem is that I lack true inspiration to create something great.

What do you do to great inspiration for your hobby projects?  What motivates you to complete something that you have started, even when you hit problems along the way which would just make it easier to give up than continue?

I would really love to hear what helps you to see if it can give me some inspiration and motivation.  Share your ideas in the comments!
