Why I Hate Fast Food

Hello readers! Im sure the title of todays post gives it away. Fast food places continue to piss me off. I could care less about how healthy the food is. I don't eat fast food to eat healthy and never will. What has me irritated is that you are lucky if you get all of your order or what you ordered in the first place.

Some restaurants around here are better than others, although it seems to be a universal problem in the fast food industry, I only get what I ordered about 50% of the time. The local Burger King and Wendy's seem to be the worst offenders. You would think that with advanced technology we have today, that you could get a simple food order right the first time. It is very frustrating having to make multiple trips to get what I ordered and paid for in the first place, especially with the price of gas.

Until recently I stopped eating Wendy's for several years because this area is so notorious for not getting what you order from them. One night I had to make three trips back to Wendy's and still did not get what I ordered. After that, I stopped going their for close to 5 years. Recently I was forced to go back, only to find the food quality had dropped, but until today I was getting what I ordered. Apparently they didn't learn from losing my business the first time.

This is my call to the fast food industry. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!! I don't care if you have to outfit wrappers with RFID tags to get stuff right, but something needs to be done to insure the accuracy of a customers order. A burger and fries is not a complicated order. If you wish to have me as a customer, you will clean up your act!

Changes are underway!

I am making a number of changes to my various online ventures.  Lets start with this blog.  I am going to be moving away from this blog being a promotional and update tool for my podcasts and blogs.  I will be posting about a wider variety of stuff in the near future.  I will still plug my podcasts, websites and blogs when there are any major developments, but they will no longer be the primary focus of this blog.

Speaking of blogs, I have spent much of the past two days migrating my Global Geek News blog from blogger to WordPress.  As nice as Google's Blogger service is, it doesn't allow me the power and easy of customization that I want on my blogs like WordPress does.  I love the plugins that wordpress has and makes tracking my blog far easier.  I will likely delete all of my blogs on Blogger in the coming days.  For those that didn't know, Blogger is where this blog got its start.

Now for a quick podcast update. I just put up the newest Geek News Daily podcast.   Some interesting changes are coming to the Geek News Daily podcast.  I plan on using sound effects in the very near future as well as I am in the process of finding some theme music and a good intro for the podcast.  I have a few other ideas, but I'm not ready to reveal them at this time.

As for the Global Geek News podcast, I will be doing that solo for at least the next episode if not for the foreseeable future. Schedules are constantly conflicting between myself and Lindsay which is coming at the expense of the podcast.  Until things change, I will likely be doing the show by myself unless we can find time to do a podcast together.  As sad as this is, its not all bad news.  I have another person that wants to come on as a co-host, but I'm not ready to reveal much about that yet.  Stay turned for more on that.

For those wondering what is going on with the Geek Podcast Network, it is in the works, just running behind schedule.  Hopefully I will have that launched soon. If you are looking for a host for your podcast, email me now!

Starting tomorrow, I will have more personal updates rather than just plugging my podcasts.  Stay tuned!

Podcasts have resumed again!

After taking a two week break, I have resumed podcasting.  A new Geek News Daily podcast is up!  The prep is also done for a Global Geek News podcast.  I don't know when this week it will be recorded or who will be on the show, but I hope to have it out before the end of the month and then weekly after that.

On a related note, I plan to move the Global Geek News blog off of blogger, to a wordpress blog on the website.  This will allow for me to do more with the blog and should get me to blog almost daily as I had always planned.

Speaking of getting stuff done, the Geek Podcasting Network is a bit behind schedule.  Depending on my free time, I will try to get it ready to go up by the end of the week.  Expect a big post here when it goes up!

Now that all of that stuff is out of the way, I must say I am very excited that one of my best friends is coming home this week after spending a year in Iraq!  I cant wait to see him and go play a round of golf later this week or early next week.  I took the online portion of my Cisco CCNA final tonight.  I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but I will still end up with a B in the class for this semester.  The next semester starts next week.

Thats it for tonight.  I shall blog again tomorrow!  Don't forget to follow me on twitter!

My first fatality accident

Hey everybody.

Despite all of the exciting things happening with my podcasts, thats not what Im hear to talk about today.  Yesterday I had to clean up my first fatality accident.

Yesterday afternoon we heard over the police scanner and the internet that I-25 had been shut down for the second time yesterday for an accident.  The first one was a 90 year old man going the wrong way on the interstate, which is not what this is about.  At the time of the news, I thought nothing of it as its not that unusual.  That changed when we got the call to go pick up the wreck and clean up the accident.  This was the call I have been on in years.  At the time, we didn't realize it was a fatality accident.  We didn't know that until we got to the scene and were told we needed to flip the rolled jeep right side up so they could remove the body.  After my grandpa got the jeep flipped up and moved so that they could open at least one lane of the interstate soon, I was tasked with sweeping up all the floor dry that way put down to soak up all the oil and gasoline.  When I got done sweeping, they were able to open up one lane of the interstate so that traffic could slowly begin to filter through.

The Jeep had been hauling a very large load of scrap metal.  Attached to the Jeep was a trailer loaded with vehicle frames, washer and dryer parts, wheels, rusty nails, wire and even a kitchen sink.  Between the jeep, the trailer and all the scrap, it took four loaded flatbed wreckers to haul off with the mess.

This was my first time seeing a dead body.  As soon as they said there was a body still in the vehicle, I wondered what my reaction would be like when I saw it.  When I finally saw it when the jeep was flipped back over and when they pulled the body out, I seemed to have no reaction at all.  Seeing the bloody, mangled corpse got no real reaction out of me whatsoever.  Out of respect, I tried not to look at it too much and mind my own business.  After they hauled off with the body, the real work began.  With all of the scrap he was hauling, it took forever to clean up.  We threw what we could in what was left of the jeep while loading up the other two wreckers.  I probably wouldn't have hated the cleanup as much as I did if it wasn't for the tangled mess of wire that kept tripping myself and everybody else up.  There was probably 40 people on the scene.  By the time you add the army of state patrol, fire department, sheriff,  coroner, us, and everybody else that happened to be there, it was rather crowded at times.

While I certainly wouldn't call it fun, it put some excitement into my day that I haven't had in a long time.  By the time we were done cleaning up, my already bad back was killing me.  I thought I would have to go to the chiropractor this morning, but so far I am feeling better.  Below is a link to the local newspaper article on the accident including pictures where I am sweeping off the right shoulder.

Local paper article.

That is the story of my first and hopefully last fatality accident.  I am happy to answer any questions that anybody has.

A new and very special Global Geek News!

If you didn't see my twitter announcement, Global Geek News show #6 is now up! If that wasn't exciting enough, my new co-host, Lindsay, made her debut as well as we had special guest Justine Ezarik. We were a little as we did it really late at night, but all things considered, I think it went well. We got off on quite few tangents, but it came off pretty good. Next time I will remember to sign out of MSN so the messenger sounds don't get recorded.

Speaking of podcasts, Geek News Daily suffered a bit because I took a lot of time to edit Global Geek News. A new Geek News Daily should be up both today and tomorrow though.

As far as blogging goes, thats next weeks goal. It is my intention to write at least one of my blogs every day. I am also a bit behind in getting my new Geek Podcasting Network finished. I still plan to launch that hopefully at the end of next week. I will keep you up to date on that as I know more.
